Our amazing team of part-time volunteers is committed to preserving the heritage of the USS MOBILE (LKA-115). We take our convictions and turn them into action. We have some important administrative and preservation jobs that we are actively working on. Think you would be a good fit? Get in touch for more information! Open to Marines, Crew Members, Family and the Public.
The USS MOBILE (LKA-115) is an amphibious supply ship built at Newport News - now known as Huntington Ingalls Industries. She came under fire during the Vietnam War, helped to evacuate and process Vietnamese refugees and served in the Gulf War. Thousands of Sailors and Marines have proudly called her "home".
We are preserving archives and historical artifacts. The USS MOBILE (LKA-115) is currently at the Philadelphia Naval Inactive Ship Maintenance Facility. We have received word that she might be scrapped. Therefore our next major project is the preservation of the USS MOBILE (LKA-115) and moving her to Mobile, Alabama.
